Course Description

Have you started your novel, but aren’t sure how to develop it into a manuscript you can shop to agents -- or that someone besides your mother might want to read at all? In this four-week course, you'll write more of your novel and continue to hone your writing skills within LIT's structured writers’ room. Keep progressing by writing scenes, developing your characters, working on dialogue, and world-building. Learn how to avoid the back-storied beginning, the murky middle, and the rushed ending. We’ll write from prompts in class, with plenty of time for questions and discussion. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your writing with the class and receive feedback. We’ll follow LIT’s philosophy: every novel can work, and we’re all more successful when we’re positive, supportive, and constructive. Taught by author Chrysler Szarlan. PREREQUISITES: LIT’s Jump Start Your Novel 101 or permission from instructor. Classes are two hours long each week for four weeks (except for holidays). Students may miss one class throughout the course. All sales final. No refunds.
