Course Description

Have you always wanted to write a novel, but didn't know where to start? Learn the basics of writing a novel with LIT! In this course, you will: *Learn the basics of novel structure, character development, writing scenes and dialogue, and world-building; *Write from prompts tailored to you in class; and *Receive positive, constructive feedback on your writing. You’ll come prepared to write and begin working on your novel from inspiring prompts, tailored to the class. A fun, informal blend of lecture, Q&A, and actual work on your novel. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your writing with the class and receive feedback, driven by LIT's philosophy in the writer’s room — every novel can work, and we're all more successful when we are positive, supportive, and constructive. Taught by author Chrysler Szarlan. NO PREREQUISITES. Classes are two hours long each week for four weeks (except for holidays). Students may miss one class throughout the course. All sales final. No refunds.

Cancellation Policy

All sales are final. No refunds. A LIT instructor may dismiss a students from the course without the right to a refund if they violate LIT’s policies for privacy, inclusion and anti-harassment. No make-up sessions will be provided if a student misses class. Classes may be recorded to assist students who miss class. Recordings are not guaranteed. If a recording of a class is shared with the students of this course, it may not be shared with anyone outside of this course. If a student consents to LIT taking photos or recordings of them for promotional purposes, those files are owned by LIT and shall be used for those purposes. LIT’s services are for educational and training purposes.
